Hello there and welcome, I'm Nikki, a 33 year old from the wonderful city of Miami, Florida. For the last 12 years I have been living in beautiful Oregon and created an amazing life here. I started running in August 2009 as a way to lose some weight, and it quickly became a huge part of my life. A challenging and exhilarating part of my life, so much so that I began training for races. A few injuries caused some set backs in my running and desire to keep training for races. I attribute some, possibly all, of my injuries to my being over-weight. I finally came to a point where I had to make some changes. So here I am, keeping an open journal on my battle to beat the bulge, to run again, and hopefully to inspire someone else to achieve a happy and healthy lifestyle.

I started this blog in 2010 as a journal into my new habit, running. I stopped blogging when the injuries I acquired kept me from doing just that. Instead of starting a whole new blog, I updated this one to fit into not just my running but weight loss as a whole. I kept my old running posts up, so feel free to skim through them if you like.

I'm not perfect, I'm a picky eater, and can be quite stubborn at times. So I predict some of my postings will have you shaking your head at me or laughing with me. And that is ok.
